Why did you choose a career at Eurofins?
The position caught my eye because it was a great fit with my studies. I was excited by the size of the Eurofins Group and the potential it offered. I wanted a job where I could implement my own projects, rather than be part of an organisation where changes only happen from the top down.
What are your day-to-day goals in your job?
My goal is to implement new projects and ideas. I have to make a business case for the idea and pitch it to the directors, so that they can understand whether or not it’s feasible. I’m always looking for new business opportunities arising from ideas and solutions, out of which I can develop new projects to improve operations in some way. It involves a lot of analysis and coordination with other colleagues and analysts. I really believe in the power of collaboration when it comes to brainstorming.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Usually, I work on-site where the projects are actually taking place. I hold a coordination meeting with the entrepreneurs involved, as well as meeting with stakeholders to keep them fully informed on the plans and answer any queries. I record all deals and plans we make and the time we spend, so that I can develop better execution methods where needed. I’d then turn my attention to other projects in development. For example, at the moment, I’m working on a customer service project.
Every day is different, though some days are all about analysing, and others, I might be in production all day.
What has been your favourite project at Eurofins so far?
My favourite projects are always those that satisfy everyone – if the people are happy, so am I! For example, I had an IT project for which I developed a new online tool to efficiently register problems and communicate them to the customer centre directly. It saved people hours of back and forth a day – sometimes, new ideas can make all the difference.
What's your favourite thing about working for Eurofins?
The networking. I’m part of a huge Lean network, so it’s very easy to ask for advice or to share good ideas. It’s also given me the chance to take trips to the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and more.
How would you describe the Eurofins work environment?
It’s a great environment to launch your career. I’ve been here for three years and I still have a lot to learn, but there is much support and knowledge within Eurofins.
What surprised you about Eurofins?
How flat the hierarchy is – the leaders are approachable, colleagues are happy to help, and I can virtually network with people around the world almost instantly.
